Favorite cultural institution of the Maison Pierre Augustin Rose, the Bourdelle Museum is a place of inspiration with a creative power, and an aura that transcends generations. Inaugurated in 1949, twenty years after the artist’s death, this ideal museum is a permanent conservatory of the oeuvre of Antoine Bourdelle, where he lived and worked. Originally from Montauban, Émile-Antoine Bourdelle was born on October 30, 1861 with prodigious drawing skills.
The artist learned very early on the technique of modeling using copies of antique plaster, a perpetual source of inspiration for him. A student of the School of Fine Arts in Toulouse and then in Paris, he moved to the current museum in 1885. Thus began a grand career. In this modern temple of the Grand Hall, built on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the sculptor’s birth, the sublime plasters and bronzes of Antoine Bourdelle reign supreme, alongside great classics by Pierre Augustin Rose.
With a resolutely contemporary touch of audacity, the furniture of the Parisian brand revisits 20th-century design in a timeless approach with soft, precious and natural nuances. Bears witness, the ineffable dialogue that takes place between these creations and the warmth of the space inhabited by the works of the sculptor Antoine Bourdelle.
